A multi-agency task force served a search warrant on Tuesday, April 1, at Big Creek Family Medicine and Urgent Care in Florence.

Ravalli County Sheriff Chris Hoffman said the warrant was served by local, state and federal agencies.

"The task force, comprised of members from the Ravalli County Sheriff Office, the Missoula High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force, the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation, and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, served a search warrant this morning at Big Creek Family Medicine and Urgent Care in Florence," Hoffman said. "The search warrant was issued by District Court Judge Jim Haynes in support of a nearly two-year investigation into the prescription writing practices of Dr. Chris Arthur Christensen.  No criminal charges have been filed at this time.  Due to the sensitive and ongoing nature of the investigation, no further information can be provided at this time."

Hoffman said patients of Dr. Christensen and the clinic can seek their medical attention at the emergency room at Marcus Daly Hospital in Hamilton, or at any other emergency facility. Hoffman said he understands the sensitive nature of the investigation, and will make more details into the investigation known to the public when it is available.

No arrests have been made, and, anyone with relevant information may contact the Ravalli County Sheriff's Office at 406-375-6650.  Comments or questions may be addressed at the Ravalli County Sheriff's Facebook page.
