A fire destroyed a Laurel area home early this morning along with several vehicles, according to Laurel Fire Marshal Jason Shovar.  He said that the residents at 7865 Eland Avenue and their pets escaped without injury.  The blaze was reported at about 1:30 a.m.

The house is located in a gated subdivision about eight miles east of Laurel and is off of 80th Street West, north of King Avenue West.  The wooden single-family home was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.  The flames and smoke rising from house were visible for miles around in the night sky.

At least three vehicles at the residence were also destroyed.  Firefighters tapped into a dry hydrant in the subdivision for water.  The dry hydrant is connected to a 40,000-gallon underground tank.  The Laurel Volunteer Fire Department reached out to all personnel and responded with two engines.  The Billings Fire Department also responded.
