He could've taken an easy shot at liberal Governor Steve Bullock (D-MT), who just ended his long-shot presidential campaign early Monday morning. Instead, Senator Steve Daines (R-MT) was very gracious when asked for his reaction to the news.

I started off our conversation by saying that I don't think Bullock wants to challenge Senator Daines for the Senate in 2020. Daines is popular, he's effective, and he's working WITH President Trump. So I don't think Bullock wants to challenge Daines. Here's how Senator Daines responded:

That'll be his decision, but I can say this, I am looking forward to working with him as he serves out his last year as governor. We need to find a way to get things done, and I look forward to working with him in his last year as governor of our state.

I caught up with Senator Daines earlier this week to get his take on impeachment, the US Mexico Canada Agreement, and more. We also were interested to find out how close we are to seeing a final vote to confirm former Montana Solicitor General Lawrence VanDyke to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.

"We're gonna put him on the 9th Circuit," Daines said.
