With the retirement of city administrator Tina Volek coming in September, KULR8.com reports that a committee will recommend that each council member appoint a resident in their ward to be part of the selection process.  Councilor Larry Brewster serves on the search subcommittee for a new administrator.  He says this is a chance for the public to have an impact on the most important person they will hire.  He said they successfully used this process when hiring a city administrator in 2003.

If the council approves the recommendation, the committee would be made up of 22 people from the community, the council and the mayor.  They would would work with a consulting firm to establish criteria for an administrator and help narrow down choices.  The consulting firm hasn’t been selected.  The city will ask for proposals before making that selection.
