Bozeman Spouse Killer Gets 102 Years

Q2 in Billings reports that a Bozeman man, accused of using a frying pan to kill his wife, has pleaded guilty. Jake Collins faces up to 102 years in prison for the New Years Eve 2016 homicide. He was scheduled to go on trial in August for deliberate homicide and tampering with evidence, but chose to make a plea agreement with prosecutors. Collins confession came on Friday in District Court Judge Holly Brown’s courtroom. In exchange for the guilty plea, prosecutors will recommend 100 years for the charge of deliberate homicide and 2 years for weapons enhancement, with a recommendation of 10 years to be served concurrently for tampering with evidence.
