A veterans club in south Billings did not show the Patriots/ Buccaneers game on Thursday night due to protests by NFL players.  KTVQ.com reports that vets at the club said they don’t like players kneeling during the National Anthem, but understand their right to protest.  VFW Post 1634 has not been showing NFL games since Sunday.

A Veterans of Foreign Wars House Committee voted to stop showing the National Football League because some players have expressed their concerns over social injustice by kneeling during the National Anthem, which some veterans say is disrespecting the flag.  However, according to U.S. Code Title 4 Chapter 1, entitled “Respect for Flag,” neither kneeling nor standing is mentioned among the 14 ways by which one might show disrespect for the flag.  The code mentions many common violations, such as wearing the flag as apparel.
