In 2016, Hasty was appointed by Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick to the Elections Advisory Committee as the only representative from West Texas. In 2019, he was re-appointed to the same committee. Hasty enjoys talking politics, sports, cigars and anything else that's on the listeners' minds.
