16-Acre Grass Fire in Roundup

Containment was reached late Tuesday on a grass fire in Roundup.  The fire that began around a pump house Tuesday afternoon, and burned at least 16 acres before firefighters contained it early last night, according to Musselshell County Disaster and Emergency Services Coordinator Adam Carlson, who said they’re unsure, at this time, what caused the blaze.  At one point, approximately 30 firefighters battled the blaze, located northeast of Roundup near Alec Roy Road.

The fire was first reported at about 4:15 p.m. by an unidentified eyewitness. A Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation helicopter arrived after 5:30 p.m.  Shortly after 8 p.m. it was reported on the Musselshell County DES Facebook page that the fire was contained.  No structures had been destroyed by early evening and none were threatened as of 5:30 p.m., according to DES Coordinator Carlson.
