Wild Fire Concerns

Q2 reports that with high temperatures and high winds rolling in, Montana fire officials are concerned that the risk of fire danger is increasing. Bozeman Fire Chief Josh Waldo told MTN News that with a wet spring season and the amount of moisture Montana had gotten last winter, vegetation has grown high and fast. He said this vegetation can dry up and be the perfect fuel for fires. One of the tips Chief Waldo recommended to prevent fires near your property is to clear brush back a minimum of 20 feet from a standing structure. He said [quote] “Just be proactive, don’t wait until the fire starts or there is fire in the area. Now is the time to be prepared.” [end quote] He also reminded people who start fires to make sure they are completely extinguished when finished.
