United Blood Services in Billings Needs Your Blood NOW!
The urgent call for blood seems to come out about four times a year. And that urgent call has again arrived!Due to a long recent Labor Day Weekend, snowstorms, flooding in the area including Wyoming, United Blood Services need your blood urgently!
The first thing you are asking yourself is what type do they need?
From United Blood Services:
All blood types are currently needed, especially O-positive, O-negative, A-negative and B-negative.
You can be as young as 16 years of age to donate a pint. The weight restriction is at least 110 pounds. 16 and under must have a signed release from guardian. United Blood Service has extended their hour this week for the urgent call to Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 7a.m. to 3 p.m.; and Sunday 10a.m. to 2 p.m.
In speaking with Donor Recruitment Director of United Blood Services, Lesli Asay, she said,
This past summer, blood drives and donations weren’t as strong as expected and we have not seen the needed increase of donors since Labor Day. Supply is not keeping up with patient needs,” said Lesli Asay, Donor Recruitment Director of United Blood Services. As of this morning, United Blood Services had outstanding orders for 779 red blood cells, the most commonly transfused blood component.
