UPDATE 5:00 p.m. Friday, September 9.

A two month-old child has been identified as the victim in Friday afternoon's one vehicle rollover crash just outside Clinton.

The Missoula County Sheriff's Office said Caia Cleary was ejected from the vehicle while it rolled, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other passengers, a one year-old boy and a two year-old girl were transported to Missoula's St. Patrick Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries. The adult female driver was also transported and is being treated for her injuries.

While on scene at the rollover accident, the Missoula Rural Fire Department was dispatched at 1:58 p. m. to the area of Mile Marker 117 on Interstate 90 for a two vehicle, rear end collision with injuries.

Units arrived on scene and found a box type delivery truck had struck the rear of a tractor trailer towing a pup trailer.  The pup trailer, which was loaded with hot asphalt, had rolled on its side.  Fortunately, only a small amount of the asphalt leaked from the top fill cap.

The driver of the delivery truck was pinned in the vehicle and required extensive extrication by MRFD firefighters.  Once extricated, the driver was transported to the hospital in serious condition.

The Montana Highway Patrol is responding to what appears to be two horrible accidents on I-90 east of Missoula near Clinton.

Highway Patrol Trooper Nicholas Navarro confirmed that one individual has died and three others were taken to St. Patrick hospital after a pickup truck carrying four people hit the median and rolled. Navarro could not release identities or causes to the crash yet as he was still on the scene and a full investigation has not been completed.

Scanner audio indicates that one incident occurred at mile marker 116 and is a single vehicle rollover. Another incident is at mile marker 117 and is a two car collision. Trooper Navarro confirmed that he could see emergency vehicles at the second site, but was unaware of the details of that incident.

According to NBC Montana, westbound lanes are closed and there have been multiple deaths. A child was killed in the first accident, while another individual has been reported to have died in the second.

Highway Patrol was actively handling the situation when KGVO called at around 2:15 P.M. today September 9. More information will be posted here when available.
