Proponents of open carry initiatives are being reminded that your right to bear arms does not mean taking your guns anywhere, anytime.  In light of the recent shootings at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida, Billings airport officials are reminding the public of the regulations on firearms at any Billings Logan International Airport facility, including the terminal building.

Current airport regulations state that no one may carry or possess a firearm “or destructive device” at the airport, except for firearms enclosed in a carrying case or other container for shipment by air; or firearms carried by peace officers, government employees or members of the United States armed forces while on official duty authorizing the possession of a firearm.  The airlines and Transportation Security Administration also have regulations regarding the carrying and transport of firearms and weapons.

More information regarding your rights and restrictions is available on the U.S. government’s TSA website; www.tsa.gov/travel/transporting-firearms-and-ammunition.
