Yellowstone County landowner Steve Selmer’s actions early Thursday helped firefighters contain a grass fire south of Shorey Road off Highway 3. Selmer jumped in a tractor with a disc and was able to cut a fire line to knock the blaze down, according to Yellowstone County DES coordinator Lt. Kent O’Donnell. First responders got the call just after 4 a.m. The Fuego Volunteer Fire Company was followed by firefighters from Billings, Lockwood, Laurel and more. By 9am, the fire was largely contained.
