The Coal Downturn Continues To Hurt Wyoming

Local counties are feeling the pain as the downturn in coal reduces their expected income to support community services; Income that pays for services like law enforcement, county roads, the hospital, court system and other services. For example, revenue in Musselshell County is expected to fall this year by $300,000.

The Signal Peak Coal Mine is that communities single biggest taxpayer and since it's taking a big hit, that is why the county’s income is being reduced.  Signal Peak was a huge supporter of infrastructure and the downturn comes at a time when the county needs to improve and update infrastructure.  This just one more example of how the war on coal is hurting the people of our coal region.
