My father-in-law was at Lambeau Field during the 1967 Ice Bowl. The temperature was 13-below zero and holds the record as the coldest game in NFL history. Green Bay Packer fans stick to this historic game like a tongue to a metal flagpole in a Wisconsin winter.Wisconsin is a Native American word that means, “Occupied Canada,” but I digress.

This Sunday, the Seahawks and Bronco’s will compete for the Super Bowl trophy that bears the name of the Packers legendary coach, Vince Lombardi. Many football fans are whining about Super Bowl LXVIII being played in the snow in New Jersey’s Meadow Lands.

I’m E. Curtis Johnson. I think if Lombardi were alive today, he wouldn’t complain about combining snow and football. Vince would remind us that football has huddles, not cuddles.

If the bench is cold and it’s snowing during the game, bring a blanket and wear a hat for Pete’s sake! Football is played in the winter. If that’s too rough for someone, maybe they should switch to watching tennis or badminton?
