The state of the union address on Tuesday was typical. President Obama recited a litany of his administration’s alleged accomplishments as an advert to why his party should have power. Freshman U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst’s rebuttal was the predictable, ignore what the President said, my party has the answers. We accept point, counter point, from state of the union addresses, because that’s what we’re conditioned to expect. The parties sometimes change positions of power, but the pathetic drama and stale script remains the same. I’m E. Curtis Johnson. The real state of the union is, we don’t have union! We have division, created by political parties. Calling the speech, the state of the division, would shine the light of truth on the political parties that perpetuate the charade that they’re serving the voters. Calling the speech, “The State of the Division” could make us realize we have the same problems because we have the same parties and the same so-called, representatives, in power.
