Sports Authority Closes Its Doors in Billings
After the careless use of fireworks fire at Sports Authority on Tuesday night, July 1st, Sports Authority management has decided to close the store!At about 9:50 p.m. on Tuesday night a call came into Billings Fire dispatch about a blaze at Sports Authority on 24th street West. Two engine companies, Engine 7 and Engine 5 had the flames knocked down a short time later. Investigators stayed on scene through the night to look for hot spots.
Unidentified arsonists deliberately set of some lit fireworks into the bush right outside of the entrance to the store while people were still inside the store. Everybody inside was evacuated safely and there were no injuries.
Sports Authority will remain closed until further notice according to store managements statements. The investigation continues and Sgt. David Cardillo of the Billings Police Department said,
there are no persons of interest at this time.
Cardillo said those responsible could be charged with arson or negligent arson for the incident.
