Smith Sentenced for Rape

69-year-old Gary Eugene Smith was sentenced to 15 years in prison for one count of sexual intercourse without consent and another count of sexual assault.  The Yellowstone County District Court gallery was reportedly full.  He will also be labeled as a tier I sex offender.  A judge ruled on Tuesday that evidence of Smith’s mental state and early signs of dementia didn’t mitigate his sexual assault of two teenage girls in 2015.
