Rights Aren’t Always Accompanied By Common Sense – Opinions From E. Curtis Johnson

Rights and common sense don’t always come in the same package. I’m a firm believer in the 2nd Amendment right to bare arms. Because it’s a tool I use almost every day, I carry a pocketknife. I also own a belt knife, but if I wore it as an earring or necklace, I’d look like a psycho. Open carry proponents who carry rifles across their chests or in their hands, especially AR or AK styles should stop! They’re scaring the straights and hurting the cause.

The over the top small minority of open carriers are also using the wrong tactic. One purpose of concealed carry is to remain anonymous to criminals. When someone has a weapon in plain view, it’s the same as wearing a sign that says: “Criminals, Shoot Me First.” Those who believe we don’t need laws to legislate common sense should demonstrate common sense by not fueling the already irrational fears of gun opponents.

I’m E. Curtis Johnson. Inside Wal-Mart is the only exception. We should all carry riffles, by law, inside Wal-mart. If the zombie apocalypse happens, that’s where it will start.
