U.S. District Judge Susan Watters sentenced 51-year-old Frank Wayne Reinke to 30 months in federal prison Wednesday, noting Reinke’s criminal record and telling him he’d been “up to no good.” Referred to by prosecutors as “a prolific burglar,” who admitted to possessing firearms that had been stolen from the same victim in two separate burglaries, his incarceration was at the top of the sentencing guidelines.
Reinke’s attorney recommended a term of two years, saying he already had spent about that much time in custody and wanted to return to his 2-year-old son and the boy’s mother, who were in the courtroom.  Judge Watters said she was more interested in hearing about whether a man his age was at a crossroads, given his lengthy criminal record. Watters suggested criminal intent, as police found bolt cutters and a police scanner in his pickup.
