Record Turnout Tuesday
The Yellowstone County Elections Office reports that turnout for Tuesday’s primary election was the second highest in the county for a non-presidential year. Administrator Brett Rutherford said Yellowstone County’s final tally showed that 43 percent of the 94,765 registered voters in Yellowstone cast ballots Tuesday, slightly higher than the statewide turnout of 41 percent. One of the notable takeaways from Tuesday’s voting was the lack of people who actually went to the polls to vote. Only 1,629 people voted in-person at 14 county polling places, or just 1.7 percent of registered voters. 80 percent of the absentee ballots turned on Tuesday were delivered to the courthouse in person.
