Montana, 1835. It was rough and tough, untamed and mining was getting started in parts of our great state which means some places were seeing it first inhabitants. One of those places was Garnet.

If you have never of Granet, let me introduce you to it. It's located about 30 miles outside Missoula and was once a thriving little mining town but has long been abandoned. In fact, the town was never meant to last at all according to Only In Your State.

People were more interested in harvesting the gold bearing quartz found in hills there.

Even though people quickly came and then quickly took off, the buildings that weren't meant be there long are not only still there, but in pretty good shape.

Picture these historic buildings with the amazing landscape and it's an awesome place to visit.
