A flight out of the Ronan airport on Tuesday afternoon, December 16, turned deadly when the plane plummeted to the ground at around 4:30 p.m. According to Lake County Sheriff’s Department public Information Officer Karen Sargent the names of those involved in the crash can now be released.

"The deceased pilots name was Brett Thoft, he was approximately 33-years of age," Sargent said. "The passenger, Tim Schauss, was flown by helicopter to Kalispell Regional Medical Center and is still listed in critical condition."

The National Transportation Safety Board will arrive on the scene today to inspect the crash. The plane left Ronan airport to go on a sightseeing tour of the area.
