A special weather report was released by the National Weather Service today, forecasting snow spreading across the area Friday. Snowfall will begin over Yellowstone County, the Absarokas and Bighorns by midday Friday, with light snow over northern portions of the Bighorn Basin by tomorrow afternoon. A mix of rain and snow is expected during the afternoon hours across eastern portions of the Basin. This will change over to snow by Friday evening, as snow becomes more widespread across the Wind River Basin and Natrona County. 2 to 4 inches of snow is expected for most of the Billings area, before gradually ending by midday Saturday. 4 to 6 inches of snow can be expected in the mountains, with 6 to 9 inches possible in the Bighorns.
