Nearly 70 years after the announcement of the end of World War II, MontanaFair and the Billings Breakfast Exchange Club want to recognize the veterans who were part of that war.

That day is seared into the nation's collective memory. On Aug. 15, 1945 the announcement of the end of World War II was made to the world. Just two weeks later, Sept.  2, 1945 the Japanese surrendered to Allied Forces in Tokyo Bay.

Veterans Day at MontanaFair is Friday Aug. 14. During the 100th anniversary of MontanaFair, the fair will have World War II veterans from each branch of the military as its honored guests, according to Ray Massie, sales and marketing director of MontanaFair.
