The body of a 22-year old Missoula man has been found in Glacier National Park. According to park officials, Beau Weiher's body was recovered Sunday afternoon from the site of what appeared to be a failed BASE jump attempt.

"We got a report Saturday Night through park dispatch from this young man's family, that he was overdue from a solo hike in the Many Glacier area," said GNP spokeswoman Denise Germann. "So early Sunday morning we initiated a ground and aerial search. Initial investigation indicated that he might be on the summit of the Mt. Siyeh area. We did find the man, he was deceased, we believe that he attempted to BASE jump off an area of the park and, for whatever reason the jump failed. He died at the scene."

Weiher's body was found by a helicopter search that was able to see the parachute on the side of the Mt. Siyeh at about 7:00 p.m. Sunday, September 14.
