37 year-old Scott Allen Price, the man accused of stabbing an elderly woman in a Missoula grocery store parking lot, then brutally slaying an employee of a local motel, appeared in Missoula Justice Court, where his bail was set at $1 million.

This is the second time in two days that Missoula County Attorney Kirsten Pabst has personally requested the $1 million bail amount. On Monday, Emanuel Gomez was also held on $1 million bail for allegedly beating his girlfriend to death, and then dumping her body in the Deer Creek area.

Pabst informed the court that Price has been accused of attempted murder and deliberate homicide, in addition to kidnapping and theft.

"The facts set forth in the charging documents speak for themselves, your honor, " Pabst said. "Mr. Price had absconded supervision, he kidnapped one person, he stabbed another, and he killed two more people in cold blood. I think the facts alleged in the warrant clearly justify a bail amount of one million dollars."

Price's public defender scolded Pabst during his appearance via video from the Missoula County Jail.

"I would like to remind the county attorney that Mr. Price is innocent until proven guilty," he said. "Her factual statements that he did these things is inappropriate at this time. We'll postpone our bail argument until a later date."

Judge Marie Anderson, just as Judge Karen Orzech had done on Monday, complied with Pabst's request, and set bail at $1 million. Price's partner in the alleged crimes, Sarah Rae McKnight, remains in federal custody in Idaho.

Price's next court appearance will be January 12.
