Q2 reports a Lodge Grass man died after he was shot by a Bureau of Indian Affairs officer Sunday night. According to Lodge Grass Mayor Quincy Dabney, a woman called authorities around 7 p.m. to either intervene or possibly remove her grandson from her home near the intersection of Main and George Streets because he was intoxicated. The as-yet-unidentified man reportedly brandished a hunting knife and started to move onto the porch, and was shot five or six times by the officer.

Dabney said the man killed by the officer is a 36 or 37-year-old Lodge Grass resident. An emergency meeting was called Sunday night for concerned residents at Lodge Grass City Hall. The name of the BIA officer involved in the shooting was not immediately released. The FBI, BIA and Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office are investigating.
