License, Por Favor. – Opinions From E. Curtis Johnson [VIDEO]

In 2015, nine states will give drivers licenses to undocumented immigrants. California driver’s licenses given to illegal residents will be marked differently from U.S. citizens or legal residents. No doubt, driver’s license pictures of legal and illegal residents will be equally unattractive! I differ from many on the right and believe licensing undocumented workers is the first step toward indentifying and stemming the tide of illegal residents. But that’s another rant. I am a former undocumented worker. I once lived in San Diego and worked in Tijuana. As a manager for a broadcasting company operating in two countries, part of my job was getting equipment into Mexico. This was only possibly through the Mexican tradition of, “la mordida,” meaning, the bite. In English, we’d call it, the cut of the under the table transaction.  I’m E. Curtis Johnson. To my friends from south of the border about to get your drivers license, do not slip DMV clerks or police officers, “la mordida.” However, you’ll need that skill if you become a congressional lobbyist.
