The World Series is underway. I can’t get excited about baseball because in a “perfect” game, the popcorn vendor in the stand is more exciting than the opposing team striking out at home plate. Think of the illogic of baseball. If something interesting happens, that means the pitcher screwed up and allowed a hit. The only parts of the game worth watching are the result of someone not doing their job. Don’t act so shocked. I’m not the first to say that America’s pastime is past its time. Baseball is struggling to stay relevant in a post Abner Doubleday world that moves faster than a horse or a Sunday afternoon at the ballpark. According to Bloomberg, the average baseball fan is 54. Only 6% of baseball fans are under 18. In other words, America is changing and baseball isn’t. My apologies for being to realistic during the so-called, “World Series.” I figured that unless you’re a Giants or Royals fan, a little more bad news right now wouldn’t matter.
