According to Business Insider, a study revealed the most AVERAGE states in the U.S. by basing it on certain factors. Stuff like racial breakdown, marriage rates, health, household income and tech.

Here are the most average states:

  1. Indiana
  2. Missouri
  3. Oregon
  4. North Carolina
  5. Michigan
  6. Wisconsin
  7. Kansas
  8. Virginia
  9. Pennsylvania
  10. Ohio

Did you notice the Midwest trend? Yeah, us too.

The least average state is Hawaii, primarily due to the difference in racial breakdowns. It appears that 23% of locals are Caucasian, far lower than most other states.

Montana, on the other hand ranks at #34. According to the study:

What makes it weird: Montana's mean commute time of 17.9 minutes was the third shortest among the states and DC. Montana also had few immigrants: Only2.3% of the population was foreign born, the third-lowest proportion in the country.

What makes it normal: The median house value in Montana of $196,800 was just below the average among the states of $200,300.
