Associated Press reports that FBI Director James Comey is concerned that smart-phone encryption codes could hamper law enforcement investigations. “Comey said “…the move by tech companies to protect user communications in the name of privacy is certain to impede a wide range of criminal investigations.” However, he can’t cite one incident to prove his theory. Comey claims the FBI is committed to a front door approach of court orders and oversight of law enforcement. Let’s apply Comey’s logic to old technology. The FBI Director supports the idea of needing a court ordered search warrant for your house. Unfortunately, in the United States of James Comey, the lock on your door is a hindrance to law enforcement because cell phone encryption codes slows down investigations. My name is E.
