For many, Facebook is a link to those from whom we’ve moved or grown away. For others, social media is becoming a means of filling a void and finding a family.  In the case of Jennifer Bradish of Billings, sitting close to her biological mother, Jane Merchant, facebook captures a moment of happiness and a remarkable family resemblance.  Jennifer’s search for her biological mother was an arduous one; Facebook, and a change in Montana law, played a part in their reunion.
With social media, more people are turning to the internet to find their biological parents.  Numerous Facebook pages are geared toward helping people, often populated by thousands of members.  Myron Bretholz of Facebook’s Adoptees Looking for Birth Parents page, said he’s seen quite a number of folks find their birth families.  Facebook and Montana’s new adoption laws made it possible to find documentation, and eventually, her mom.
