A Republic operates on rule of law. A Democracy operates on majority rule. The 14th Amendment prohibits depriving anyone of property without due process. The spirit of the amendment doesn’t seem to apply to depriving someone of a livelihood without due process.

I’ve signed several employment contracts and employee manuals that acknowledged I could have been terminated for being arrested, not convicted, but arrested. NFL players Adrian Peterson and Ray Rice are current examples. Hope Solo is an American female soccer player who has pleaded not guilty to domestic violence changes, but some call for her suspension. What’s more important: a company’s image or an individual citizen’s constitutional rights? I’m not judging these people, innocent. I’m saying, let the legal system - not public opinion and mob mentality - decide guilt.

I’m E. Curtis Johnson. How ironic! In the American republic it’s legal to deprive a person of their livelihood before the conclusion of legal due process guaranteed in the Constitution.
