The Billings Gazette reports that a woman was taken to the hospital and a man was arrested after a shooting near downtown Wednesday night.  50-year-old Steven Kueffler of Billings, is being held on suspicion of attempted deliberate homicide, criminal endangerment and driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.  Police responded to the shooting in the 900 block of Fourth Avenue North.

A 25-year-old woman, who appeared to be suffering from bullet wounds, was found two blocks away.  Officers located the suspected shooter’s vehicle near MetraPark.  He refused to pull over and eluded police for three to five blocks, then crashed into a light pole, hit an occupied pickup, then both vehicles struck a building on Sixth Avenue.  The man in the other vehicle sustained minor injuries.  Kueffler was cleared by medical personnel and arrested.
