Yellowstone County Commissioners have agreed to a recommendation by Commissioner Denis Pitman to add a second opportunity for public comment around the beginning of regular commission board meetings.  The segment will be after public hearings and bid openings, and before regular agenda items are discussed.

The Billings Gazette reports that Pitman said he wanted to give the public a chance to comment before the commission voted on agenda business.  Commissioners agreed that the public will be able to comment on “non-public hearing” items.  Comments on public hearing items will be heard as scheduled.

In addition on Thursday, the commission agreed to add a notice that more information on items is available in the clerk and recorder’s office and reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals with disabilities who wish to attend meetings.  Contact the county clerk at 256-2798.
