The Missoula County Sheriff’s Office responded to a stabbing this morning, May 20, at 8:45 off of Highway 83 North.

“The homeowner called 911 to report that there had been an altercation at his home and the initial investigation indicates that a male arrived at the scene early this morning to confront the homeowner about a civil issue,” said MCSO Public Information Officer Brenda Bassett.

The visitor was from Helena, and the altercation appears to have quickly escalated to violence.

“It was reported that he pushed his way through the door and an altercation ensued the man who arrived came into the home and was stabbed multiple times," Bassett said. "He was able to make his way to a local business where 911 was called again and an ambulance arrived to transport him to St. Patrick hospital.”

The investigation was still underway at noon, and no charges have been filed yet. The man who was stabbed is 59-years-old and the homeowner is 53.
