In a 236-186 vote, the House blocked legislation from Rep. John Flemming, R-La. Without the block, banks could have been charged with money laundering for accepting deposits associated with marijuana revenue.

Using Colorado as an example, pot is about to be big business. Many banks wouldn’t accept dope deposits. This caused many Marijuana dispensaries to hold onto cash. Money that isn’t deposited can’t be tracked or taxed. This legislation isn’t about someone’s health or the freedom to do with one’s body as they choose. This isn’t a Congressional kumbaya moment where the doobie is passed. This is about the subject that Congress cares the most about: tax revenue. This is about the cash, not the stash! If American’s bogarted our bucks, Congress couldn’t get high on its biggest addiction: spending our money.

I’m E. Curtis Johnson. On the brightside, at least the House acted on a subject it’s expert on: money laundering.
