A standoff with police and federal authorities ended early this morning, and a man on parole with an active arrest warrant was taken into custody.  After spending more than five hours holed up in a garage, where officials suspected he was armed, 35-year-old Jimmy Walker was apprehended by Billings Police at approximately 1:30 AM today.  The standoff followed attempts to contact Walker initiated by probation and parole and the United States Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives as part of an ongoing investigation.

When law enforcement officials were able to contact the man, he barricaded himself in a garage and refused to speak with authorities.  Billings Police arrived at the garage located in a residential neighborhood off North 30th Street and 11th Avenue North at about 8 p.m. Wednesday.  Walker surrendered at about 1:25 a.m. and the ATF carried out a search warrant. The investigation is ongoing.
