All 13 Billings police officers involved in a series of shootings over the past two months have been cleared to return to duty, according to Lt. Neil Lawrence. Q2 reports that the officers, who were involved in three separate incidents, have either returned to duty or will be back to work later this week.

Published reports suggested the department was stretched thin by the large number of officers on leave from October to November. Billings Police officers are placed on administrative leave during the investigation of any officer-involved shooting.

Two officers shot a man at the Lazy KT Motel in October after he allegedly swung a shotgun in their direction. Eight officers fired shots during a standoff at Big Bear Sports Center in November. Officers shot and killed Preston David Bell after he allegedly drove at them with his vehicle.
