A Billings lawyer reportedly tried to use her position with the state to get out of a DUI arrest.  Michele Lynn Braukmann faces charges of criminal child endangerment, possession of an open alcohol container and operating a vehicle without proper registration.  Braukmann was driving with three children in the car when a trooper pulled her over with an open bottle of vodka in the car.

Her blood alcohol content was more than three times the legal limit.  In Braukmann’s alleged conversation with the Montana Highway Patrol trooper she said she was “an attorney for the city of Billings” and “she defended police officers,” and that she had Billings Police Chief Rich St. John’s telephone number on “speed dial.”  Braukmann told law enforcement at the jail that she was a “moral person” and that the trooper should be out arresting other people and not her.  Braukmann is now on leave from the law firm Moulten Bellingham.
