The man who allegedly stabbed a downtown Billings business owner on Monday was arrested by Billings Police and charged on Tuesday. Q2 reports that 24-year-old Paul Bixby Jr. was charged with felony assault with a weapon in the stabbing of Coffee Tavern owner Larry Heafner Monday night.

Bixby and a woman reportedly entered the business, just to use the bathroom. Heafner told them it was not available for non-customers. Court documents state that after the two left, they made a scene outside and Heafner confronted them, saying Bixby was going to throw something at the window. The intoxicated Bixby became aggressive and spit at Heafner, so he punched him. Bixby then allegedly stabbed Heafner three times in the torso, nicking his colon.

Witnesses identified Bixby as the assailant. He was located with fresh blood on his clothing and hands.
