A Billings bus driver, responding to the noise level of elementary school children on his bus, made the ill-advised decision to hand out tape to noisy students– ostensibly, to put over their mouths– but the situation wasn’t as serious as social media posts later portrayed, according to School District 2 officials.  Several posts by parents on Facebook described a bus driver who handed out tape to elementary students.
A video recording from the bus shows that a student asked the bus driver where the tape was, referring to previous joking statements the driver apparently made about taping kids’ mouths because the bus was too noisy.  The driver pulled out a roll of clear tape and asked students who wanted a piece.  The driver then went down the bus aisle, distributing tape to students who raised their hands.  While the driver did not discipline anyone, officials said it was extremely poor judgement.
