Billings’ Alzheimer’s Walk Moved Indoors

This weekend’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s moved indoors to the Rimrock Mall on Saturday. Alzheimer’s disease is the sixth leading cause of death in the country and the annual fund-raiser in Billings is designed to help. It was the last of seven walks in Montana. Because of the weather forecast, it was decided to hold the walk at the old Herberger’s location at the mall. The walk drew more than a thousand participants. The Lewis and Clark Middle School eighth grade Choir sang “Rise Up” and the Caledonian Pipes and Drums of Billings led the walk into the mall. Nationwide, there are more than 600 walks on behalf of loved ones who suffer from the debilitating disease. Alzheimer’s affects not just patients, but caregivers, families and friends. Proceeds benefit the Alzheimer’s Association, which funds research as well as patient care.
