Fort Missoula Regional Park may look like a bunch of dirt right now, but Design Development Manager Neil Miner says a lot of work is underway.

“Right now they’re doing a lot of service work for the park,” said Miner. “The’re installing irrigation main lines, all the utility work, the domestic water, the gas lines, the fiber optic necessary for all the maintenance needs, and they’re getting ready to spread all the top soil. They’re planning on laying the sod starting in July so all that work needs to be done.”

Miner says that yesterday, the final paperwork was completed to get the park water rights access, something that will be vitally important when it comes to keeping the grass green when sod is laid in July.

“We’ve been working for a while on the water rights that were originally in that area,” Miner said. “We’re going to be developing the wells starting soon and that will get us the water necessary to irrigate the park. They will be tied into the irrigation main lines that are serving the fields and all the grass areas.”

If all goes well with construction, Miner says the park will have most of their projects finished and open by the fall of this year.
