On Thursday, the federal government announced the cap on the penalty for not having health insurance. If I seem to have it in for the Affordable Care Act, it’s because it seems to have it in for me. Last April, I filed my taxes and checked the declaration that I had health insurance. Three days later I lost my job and my insurance. Four months later, I still don’t have a job and have reached the point where I have to decide whether I pay my mortgage or pay for health insurance.

In the choice between what will happen and what may happen, it won’t matter if I have medical care if I don’t have a roof over my head.  Additionally, the ACA obliterated my wife’s medical related business. Now she’s looking for work, too. If the ACA were a doctor, it violated the Hippocratic oath by doing me harm.

My name is E. Curtis Johnson. Pronounce the first two letters in ACA and it makes the “ACK,” sound - like someone coughing or choking. How appropriate.  Oh no, I hope I’m not getting sick!
